Test Kitchen Manager

After working in some of NYC’s most iconic restaurants, Fatima started recipe testing for Saveur in the middle of the pandemic. She graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 2012 and has been in hospitality since. She is now the Test Kitchen Manager for Saveur, writing articles, and developing her own vegetable focused column.


  • Experience in cuisines from all over the world. With a South Asian background, and working in Mexican, French and Italian restaurants.
  • Has a Latin Cuisine Certification from the Culinary Institute of America in San Antonio, Texas.
  • After nearly a decade of working in restaurants, Fatima branched out into food media, recipe testing, developing and food styling for brands like Food52, Alison Roman and Camille Becerra.



Fatima’s connections and experience in the variety of New York restaurants and establishments has given her the knowledge of international flavors that Saveur values. From San Pellegrino’s No. 22 best restaurant in the world, Enrique Olvera’s, Cosme, to Thomas Keller’s classic Bouchon, to the mom and pop cheese shop, Lucy’s Whey; she brings variety that is applicable to Saveur’s test kitchen and to the brand. With the addition of her studies and experience in Latin cuisine, she finds herself fluent in Mexican cuisine, along with her native Pakistani food. Fatima has spoken about her background on the podcast, Food Without Borders, and has also assisted in food styling the shooting of Chef’s Table at Cosme. One of her proudest moments was being chosen to speak in front of some of the industry’s finest at the MAD conference in Copenhagen, organized by Rene Redzepi.


Fatima holds a Bachelor’s in Culinary Arts from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Along with an extended Certificate in Latin Cuisine from the Culinary Institute of America in Texas.

I couldn’t do without some good chocolate. It’s just right for that little bit of caffeine, that little bit of sugar, and the satiety you crave.
